McAfee EEPC State Capture

State capture is not a process which is uncommon in OS Deployment. Especially when you are running the side by side or in-place upgrade scenarios from MDT. However those which run McAffee EEPC on their machines may run into trouble when in Windows PE.

The issue is that with the full disk encryption technology Windows PE cannot see the disk to be able to perform a state backup before wiping the disk. This issue can be resolved with other products by using a filter driver and injecting it into your PE image to enable the disk to be seen.

Thankfully McAfee have released a set of products to enable you to do this. The tools are free and available in 32bit and 64bit editions. You can get them from the McAfee KnowledgeBase KB73035. The instructions with the download are comprehensive and will have you up and running in no time.
